Scotland Tour 1997

1997 Tour Averages

Fred at 18 Fred was eighteen in 1997, so at last it was his round.

After an unsuccessful Devon weekend, where we lost to The Erratics and Contango, we started the Scotland tour in the rain at Kinross. We lost by five wickets (although, under Duckworth-Lewis we might well have won). Another game at Clackmannan, another pro century, another nail-biting victory. On the Thursday we went to Falkland for the first time. Our bowlers suffered on a hot day at a lovely ground. They made 263. Windy top-edged a sweep into his face. We lost by 58 runs, despite some brave batting.

Saturday saw Derek's captaincy debut against Breadalbane. Under his guidance we won by 51 runs. On Sunday we were back at the Murthly asylum. We lost to the hosts, Almond Valley, and beat Innellan. After Innellan beat Almond Valley, some careful checking of the rules were necessary. I think we came last.

Fred was the player of the tour, and Donna was the supporter of the tour.
